Food Reviews of My Recent Vacation

I was away for a week with my lil' family, visiting my mother in Yakima, WA. Which isn't a vacation spot at all, nor does it have too much to do anymore, but we had to find gluten free places to eat and I was pleasantly surprised by the options found. So if you ever end up visiting Yakima at all - here are a list of places we ate at:

Museum Soda Fountain:
A great place to reminisce of the 1950's. Great chocolate sodas and milkshakes. Not so much gluten free food options. I ordered a sandwich wrapped in lettuce which worked out just fine for me.

Waffles Caffe:
A breakfast and lunch joint with a dedicated gluten free menu. They offer gluten free toast, French toast, waffles and pancakes. I ordered the stuffed French toast with raspberries. The bread they used was good, but what they chose to fry it in was more along the flavor lines of overcooked bacon. I don't want to give it a bad review after only eating one thing. I would like to try it again.

Next we hit up a dedicated gluten free bakery called Jenny Mae's. We took home some delicious honey wheat bread (the most delicious bread I have ever tasted in my entire life!) A box of chocolate cupcakes (for my birthday!) and cinnamon rolls for the next days breakfast. Everything was delicious! I wish Jenny Mae lived with me. I recommend checking out her site.

We found a Chinese restaurant that will modify their foods to be gluten free. I gotta tell ya, I was pretty excited about that. I hardly get to eat Chinese. Either I am making it and it's not very tasty or we finally had enough date money to go out to P.F. Changs. So we tackled Kiki's! Super cute on the outside, a little traditional with sparkly gold booth seats on the inside. The staff was very sweet and friendly. I was very pleased with my choice. I ordered the broccoli beef stir fry with no soy sauce. Basically, you can order any stir fry meal, ask for gluten free and no soy sauce. The brand they use is not safe. But a super delicious meal, and even better the next day.

All in all I had a fabulous time visiting my mother and experiencing new gluten free foods.
